Blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea)

El lotus azul es también conocido como flor-de-lis sagrada de los aguas. Es una planta de agua viva que crece en los márgenes de los lagos o de los ríos. En los tiempos de los antiguos egipcios, la planta era considerada sagrada.

El dios del lotus azul en el antiguo Egipto era Nefertem. Él llevaba el lotus al dios del sol Ra para acalmar las dolores de su viejo cuerpo. Los antiguos egipcios apreciaban la flor no sólo por su aroma agradable, sino también por sus calidades curativas. Muchas imagenes egipcias muestran mujeres reteniendo la flor, olando su fragancia divina. Hoy en día se cree que la planta era usada también como droga recreacional (embebida en vino).

Efectos

Los efectos del lotus azul son narcóticos y eufóricos, como los del cannabis o de la codeína, haciéndose ligeramente alucinógenos con doses más altas. Se dice también que la planta aumenta el deseo y mejora la sexualidad, y que tiene un efecto parecido con el de Viagra.

Uso

Para preparar té, embebe 5 gramos por persona en agua caliente. Para una bebida tradicional egipcia, embebe las flores en vino durante várias horas. Usa aproximadamente 5 gramos por garrafa. No excedas la dosis recomendada: el lotus azul hace el vino amargo y difícil de beber.

“I have tried smoking it, didnt get much of a buzz. I also tried making the tea, didnt get much there either. am i supposed to put it in the water directly and drink it as well? I used one of these things you use when you make regular tea, when you dip the stuff in the water and leave it there for a while, and then throws it away. so is that wrong? Am i supposed to leave the lotus stuff in the water and drink that as well? I would be thankfull for an answer! :)

By the way, the tea tastes good if you ask me, just add some honey and alittle lemon juice, and it tastes really good! ”
